Insurance for Your New Physical Location
Last updated: September 16, 2026
Your existing general liability, professional liability, and workers’ comp coverage was likely scoped to telehealth. A physical location and new employees usually mean updates, not new policies. For the baseline setup, see “LLC Incorporation, Banking, Worker’s Comp, Liability Insurance.”
What’s different for a physical site
Step 1: Call your existing broker first. Tell them about the new location and ask whether your GL and professional liability policies extend to it, or need an endorsement.
Step 2: Add commercial property insurance for the new space — likely a new line item you didn’t need for telehealth.
Step 3: Confirm workers’ comp extends to the new employees/location. As covered in the baseline article, Colorado (for example) makes this mandatory once you have employees, even though solo owners can opt out for themselves.
Step 4: Consider a Business Owner’s Policy (BOP) if you don’t have one — bundles GL and commercial property at a lower combined rate.
WARNING: Most landlords will require proof of general liability insurance covering the new address before you can take possession of the space — confirm this with your broker well before your target move-in date.
